Newcastle 'Journey to C' is a Hit22/03/2010 |

Lawrence Wall, Managing Director of ERW says: "As a forward thinking timber company we've already ensured we are up to date with the proposed changes to legislation and are meeting the demands for energy efficient windows by incorporating the most advanced technology. However, although we are well positioned for the challenges ahead, we want to take every opportunity available to ensure we continue to understand the latest developments. With various opinions published in the media the issue can be confusing, but events such as this give us the chance to hear about up and coming developments straight from the horses mouth. Being a timber company, we don?t get the support from a systems supplier that some of the PVC fabricators do, so support such as this from Edgetech is invaluable." David Naisbett from First Class Windows explains: "I always say that if you attend an event and you learn one thing that you can take away and use afterwards, that event has been worth it. By lunchtime of Edgetech's 'Journey to C' I had already learned several things that I knew would help our business. We were aware of the up and coming changes to Building Regulations but the event put the flesh on the bones by supplying the specific details of what has been proposed and what we need to do to stay ahead of these changes. There was something for everyone too - my IG unit supplier was there and particularly appreciated the demonstration of the gas testing equipment, while I was particularly interested in the procedures and costs involved in achieving Window Energy Ratings. Even the minor details had been considered. For example we were all given all of the presentations from the day on a memory stick which allowed you to listen to the information we were being given without feeling we had to scribble it all down throughout the day." Mike Troubridge, Commercial Specification Manager for Spectus adds: "Obviously as a systems company I was approaching the day from a different perspective to many of the delegates, but as far as we're concerned it's as, if not more important for us to understand the latest information on up and coming legislation, as it is our fabricators. We gather information from the press and hearsay but we have to be sure the information we pass on to our fabricators is correct, so it's great to be given the opportunity to get the facts directly from the people that know. Of course it's a great networking opportunity as well, which is always useful to share ideas and thoughts about the up and coming challenges we will be facing together as an industry." |
